At the age of 9 I walked down a church aisle and became a member of the church. At the age of 21 God’s Holy Spirit convicted me of my need for salvation. My heart became convicted of my lost condition. I confessed and repented of my sin and placed my faith and trust in Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour and Lord. God showed me that simply joining a church would not take me to heaven. God’s Word declares that we must be born again! Thank God for His mercy and grace that enabled me to be saved. Soon after I was saved, I sensed God’s call upon my life and I enrolled in Bible College to prepare to fulfill His calling to preach the Gospel. After graduating from Liberty University in 1979, God allowed me to serve as an Associate Pastor/Christian School Teacher/Choir Director and continue to study through Southeastern Baptist and Liberty Theological Seminaries. God opened the door for me to serve as Pastor of Lebanon Baptist Church in Alexander County for almost 20 years. In 2004 I accepted His call to serve here at Clover Baptist Church. God has been so very good to us even in the difficult places in life. God has blessed me with a precious and beautiful wife, Ginger, and together we share five precious children and four grandchildren, all of whom we deeply love and are thankful for. After 13 years of marriage, my first wife died as a result of suicide. I found myself a broken husband, pastor, and father of an 8 year old son and a ten year old daughter. Almost four years later, Ginger and I were married. Eight years earlier, just two weeks before her 21st birthday, a wife and mother of a 5 ˝ month old son, her husband died instantly of a massive heart attack while cutting a load of firewood on a cold, January morning. Today after almost 20 years of marriage and the birth of our two sons, we sometimes describe ourselves as the “Brady Bunch” with yours, mine, and ours. We feel so very blessed and often tell others that “Grace” is not merely a topic that preachers preach about but the witness and testimony of our lives.
